Description
The 3M GoggleGear 2890 Series safety goggles are designed to offer robust eye protection in industrial or occupational environments that involve exposure to dust, splashes, or flying particles. They feature a clear polycarbonate lens (or alternative acetate lens in some variants) with anti-scratch and anti-fog coatings to maintain visibility, especially in hot or humid conditions. Venting is indirect (in the standard 2890 model) to reduce the entry of liquids and large dust particles while still allowing air circulation. The goggles have a large wrap-around profile and are made to fit over most prescription glasses, with a wide adjustable strap and pivoting or ratchet adjustment. They meet international safety standards (e.g. EN 166, ANSI-ISEA Z87.1) and are suitable for a broad range of uses from general manufacturing to laboratory work.
Key Features
-
Clear polycarbonate lens with anti-scratch and anti-fog (AF and AS) coatings (in many models).
-
Indirect ventilation (for models like 2890 / 2890A / 2891-SGAF) to help reduce fogging while protecting from liquid droplets and larger dust particles.
-
Some variants sealed for protection against small particles, gases or in more hazardous settings (e.g. 2890S, 2890SA etc.).
-
Wide adjustable strap and frame design that can fit over prescription glasses comfortably.
-
Lightweight build (≈ 99 g for some variants).
-
Optical class 1 lenses (good visual clarity for prolonged use).
-
Available in acetate lens options (for improved chemical resistance) in some models, aside from polycarbonate
Industries / Applications Used In
These goggles are commonly used in:
-
General manufacturing and assembly lines.
-
Pharmaceutical labs and chemical handling areas (especially where chemical splash risk or visibility issues from fogging matter).
-
Laboratories and research environments.
-
Construction sites, maintenance, and industrial repair work where dust and splash protection plus impact resistance are needed.
-
Electronics component manufacturing and other precision industries where contamination and fine particles matter.
