Description
The 3M™ P100 Particulate Filter 2097 is an advanced respirator filter carrying NIOSH’s P100 certification, meaning it filters out 99.97% of both oil and non-oil based particles as small as 0.3 µm. It employs electrostatically charged microfibers (Advanced Electret Media) to reduce breathing resistance while resisting clogging, abrasion, and moisture. A carbon layer embedded inside reduces nuisance-level organic vapor odors—but it is not a substitute for dedicated gas/vapor cartridges.
Compatible with various 3M® reusable respirators—including the 6000, 7000, FF-400, and, via adapter 502, the 5000 series—the 2097 offers broad usability across industries. It performs reliably in tasks like welding, metal pouring, soldering, and dealing with toxic particulates such as lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA. Despite providing vapor odor relief, it should not be used in environments with concentrations above OSHA’s PEL or for IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) conditions.
Key Features

-
Advanced Electret Media — Lightweight, comfortable, fiberglass-free
-
Nuisance-Level Vapor Odor Relief — Carbon layer reduces low-level organic vapor smells
-
Broad Respirator Compatibility — Bayonet fit for 3M half/full facepieces and 5000/6000/7000/FF-400 series
-
High Protection Factor — Supports work environments up to 10× (half-face) or 50× (full-face fit-tested) PEL
-
High Durability — Resistant to abrasion, moisture, and handling wear
Industries & Applications
Commonly used in industrial environments that generate high concentrations of particulates or hazardous dust:
-
Welding, brazing, soldering, torch cutting, metal pouring
-
Handling of asbestos, lead, cadmium, arsenic, MDA
-
Chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing, metalworking, heavy industry
-
Where odor relief from harmless vapor levels is beneficial but not the primary hazard
