Description
The SEC RTD heat detector is a dual-mode thermal detector that triggers on a rapid rise in temperature (rate-of-rise) or when a fixed temperature threshold is exceeded. This capability makes it suitable for environments where smoke detectors may suffer nuisance alarms due to dust, moisture or high air-flows. The unit comes in a low-profile ceiling-mount design (diameter approx 102 mm) and supports a wide operating voltage range of 8-30 V DC.
Key Features
-
Dual Heat Sensing — Detects fire via rate-of-rise and fixed temperature threshold for improved detection performance.
-
Wide Voltage Range — Operates over 8-30 V DC, making it compatible with a variety of fire alarm system supplies.
-
Low Current Draw — Energy-efficient design keeps system power demands minimal.
-
Backward Compatibility — Compatible with the Series 100 detector bases, simplifying upgrades.
-
Bi-colour LED Indicator — Gives clear visual status with red/green LED signalling.
-
Automatic Drift Compensation — Maintains accurate detection over time by compensating for sensitivity degradation.
-
Compact Design — Diameter ~ 102 mm, weight ~ 105 g; subtle profile for ceiling mounting.
-
Operating Temperature Range — -30 °C to +70 °C, suitable for harsh environments.
Industrial Uses / Applications
-
Utility & mechanical rooms where smoke detection may be unreliable
-
Warehouses, factories with high ambient or fluctuating temperatures
-
Engine / generator rooms, boiler houses
-
Areas with dust, grease or heavy air-flows (where smoke detectors may false-alarm)
-
Educational, commercial or residential buildings requiring reliable heat detection
